Who We Are

Vinos de Chile is a private nonprofit union entity which represents Chilean wine-growers. The Union Association of Vinos de Chile was founded on April 20th 2007 with the objective of uniting the union efforts of the wine-growing industry, which up until then represented the union associations, Viñas de Chile A.G. and ChileVid A.G.

The Research and Development area, led by the Consortium I+D Vinos de Chile S.A., made up 99% by the Union Association, Vinos de Chile, is found within the organization. However, the organization intends on incorporating as shareholders more than 100 vineyards, all profit based, which will represent more than 90% of the production and commercialization of wine in Chile and in its exports. The Consortium looks to conserve and broaden the association of the wine-growing sector and aspires that results are beneficial for the largest number of businesses in the area possible, independent of their size. This area is led by the Sustainability Code’s administration.
The Consortium is administered by a directory made up of eighteen members, consisting of the directors of Vinos de Chile, plus a representative of each university participating in the previous Consortiums VINNOVA and TECNOVID (Universidad Catolica, Universidad de Concepcion, Universidad de Chile, Universidad de Talca and Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria), as well as representatives from the Wine-growers Merit Association, the Chilean Wine Corporation and the Enologists Association.
The I+D Vinos de Chile Consortium will allow economies of scale in the administration of resources, with greater information of the knowledge generated in the industry and a greater speed of adoption by the companies. An element of extraordinary importance for the country is the real possibility that Smes adopt state-of-the-art technologies in their operations, which would not happen if R&D; is done only by the large companies.
